"The Blood Vessel" is a fast, comfortable, twin-diesel 29' Blackfin, with state-of-the-art electronics,an EPIRB(emergency positioning radio beacon),satelite phone, 6 person life raft and type I offshore life vests to insure your safety. The boat is equipped with everything you need to fish inshore or offshore.
Capt Al Schiedel is a U.S.Coast Guard licensed captain and is fully insured.Here he is seen with a 48.5 pound bass taken in Juneof 2006 to win the SOFT MUD YACHT CLUB all season long tournament.Blood Vessel charters can also accomodate you for any local tournaments you wish to enter.Here in Great Kills harbor we have tournaments all season long.There are ones inshore for bass, blues,fluke and blackfish as well as offshore ones for tuna and shark.Call for dates and more info.

So whether you prefer early spring fishing for flounder or blackfish,spring and summer fishing for striped bass , blues and weakfish, summertime fluking, bottomfishing for sea bass or fall and winter fishing for blackfish, ling and cod ,we can make it happen as we sail almost all year round ,fishing from april 1st through the end of january.
On our inshore trips we use only quality reels,such as Shimano and Newell matched with Shimano, Lamiglass and Star rods.All our hooks are Gamakatsu tied with flourocarbon leaders.If you prefer jigging we have a fine assortment of jigs and other artificial lures.
If offshore fishing is your choice,depending on water conditions and location of baitfish,we are just an hour and a half to three hours away from some of the finest shark fishing around.We are also in reach of some pretty good tuna fishing ,although distance will vary on location of the different species of tuna.With bluefin usually being the closest to home port. Rates on all offshore trips will vary depending on distance to the grounds.For instance,early season sharking can be much further than later on and bluefin tuna are usually much closer than yellowfin and longfin tuna.
We use all Penn International reels on Star and Chaos rods for all our offshore fishing insuring that there will be no lost fish due to poor quality equipment.
In the summer wear sunglasses and a hat and bring sunscreen. In the spring and fall it may get a little cool so bring an extra shirt and waterproof footwear. While In the winter you should dress warmly in layers. Bring your lunch and drinks.but leave your coolers behind as we have plenty on board filled with ice for the fish you catch and your drinks. Even though we supply only top quality tackle, you may bring your favorite rod and reel as well as any rigs you may choose, as some anglers have their own way of rigging.
The captain and crew will work very hard to make sure that you will enjoy your trip aboard the BLOOD VESSEL. Our crew is courteous and professional, welcoming fishermen of all ages and skill levels. Rods and reels, tackle, bait, and ice are all provided and the mate will prepare your catch to your liking.To ensure your memories will last a lifetime, we can photograph your catch and post your pics here on our site, making it easy to share them with your friends!
All trips can be tailored to fit your needs with combo trips also available. You should contact the captain to discuss departure times as he will be able to determine what time would be best to do the type of fishing you prefer.
Open boat trips are also available on days the boat is not booked by a group charter.Open boat trips give you the opportunity to fish even if you dont have a crew to charter the boat.You will be fishing with other anglers like yourself who want to fish but couldnt put their own group together.Call for availability of these trips .
Sightseeing tours are also available with scenic views of the manhattan skyline,statue of liberty,all area lighthouses,sunsets,, and summer fireworks displays all an option.
Cancellations due to weather for all trips,fishing or otherwise, will be made by the captain 12 to 24 hours prior to departure.You will be contacted by phone as soon as a decision has been made if conditions seem questionable.Feel free to call if you are uncertain that the boat will be sailing on your scheduled date.
